'If We All Had Wings' charity

Hastings Co-op has joined an army of community groups and business who have thrown their support behind the 'If We All Had Wings' charity.

Sixty local families facing financial hardship while undergoing cancer treatment will benefit from the first round of fundraising.

Mid North Coast Cancer Institute social worker Nicole Edwards said donations and food and petrol vouchers from Hastings Co-op will help local families struggling to pay their household bills while a loved one, and often an income earner, is undergoing cancer treatment.

"These people are identified by our social workers as those who would benefit from a helping hand during what is a very difficult time, she said.

"The assistance includes Hastings Co-op vouchers, ensuring families have access to groceries and fuel.

“Knowing help is there if needed is a big weight off some patients’ shoulders, and a huge relief for our staff who can be confident financial assistance will be available for those who really need it."

'If We All Had Wings' co-ordinator Skye Petho said the next round of fundraising includes an exciting public art installation, a special event and a new range of wings for purchase.
